War on drugs (II)

Situation continues to evolve at the Caribbean. Tension increases as the awarded Nobel Peace Prize, Corina Machado, has not been able to attend the event. She is out of the country. It means she has done it with the support of the U.S., which would represent the “first” action on the ground.

There are two pieces in the analysis which might require further explanation. Both are related to Spain: the visit of the Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, to Spain while under sanctions (January 2020) and the involvement of former Spanish President (Prime Minister), José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who is under the scrutiny of the U.S. administration due to his close ties with the Venezuelan regime. This flight is linked to another deal related to a gold sale which involves a Spanish entrepreneur who is in the middle of several ongoing judicial cases where former members of the cabinet and the wife of the current Spanish President, Pedro Sánchez, are involved. But it is another story.
