Steele dossier: a review.

There will always be a question mark on the alleged or factual cooperation that Trump has always shown with Russia. To say the least there is some sympathy, We have decided to review the famed Steele dossier which initiated the judicial processes about the Russian interference in the 2016 elections and many other cases such as the alleged cooperation among members of Trump’s team and Putin’s presidential administration. As an introduction to the topic it is recommended to see the following video https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-44852812.

Several members of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent administration were convicted on charges related to interactions with Russian officials or institutions. Notable convictions include:

  • Michael Flynn: Appointed as National Security Advisor, Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017 to making false statements to the FBI about his conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition.
  • George Papadopoulos: A foreign policy advisor to the Trump campaign, Papadopoulos pleaded guilty in October 2017 to making false statements to the FBI regarding his contacts with individuals tied to the Russian government.
  • Paul Manafort: Serving as Trump’s campaign chairman, Manafort was convicted in 2018 on charges including tax evasion and bank fraud related to his lobbying work for pro-Russian entities in Ukraine. He also pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and admitted to sharing internal polling data with a Russian intelligence-linked individual during the campaign.
  • Rick Gates: Deputy campaign chairman under Manafort, Gates pleaded guilty in February 2018 to conspiracy against the United States and making false statements, stemming from his work with Manafort and interactions with Russian-linked individuals.
  • Roger Stone: A longtime Trump advisor, Stone was convicted in November 2019 on charges of lying to Congress and witness tampering concerning his efforts to gather information about WikiLeaks’ release of Democratic emails hacked by Russian operatives.

It’s important to note that while these convictions were related to interactions with Russian officials or intermediaries, the investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller did not establish that the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.
